Like most notorious exploitation films from the 70′s, the marketability was in the film title, ad campaign or explicit content. 1978′s I Spit on Your Grave was actually titled Day of the Woman and bombed at the box office. Once the name changed, it became successful and one of most recognizable exploitation titles from that era. And with any past success comes remakability.
